The Apple warranty doesn’t cover water damage to your Apple Watch. If water enters your Apple Watch, it won’t be replaced under the warranty. Remember, the watch is resistant to splashes, water, and dust. But, this resistance isn't permanent. It can decrease over time from wear and tear.
👉Let's see what Apple community discuss about this
If your Apple Watch needs repairs, it might lose its ability to resist water. Even though it's built to handle water, opening it up for fixing or changing parts can make it no longer waterproof. So, after repair, it's safer to keep it away from water to avoid damage.
And we highly suggest not to use in water after the repair.
• Visible water: Even a tiny bit of water can lead to damage. If you see water inside your watch, it shows there might be water damage.
• Condensation: Fogging or misting inside the watch crystal is another strong sign. When you see condensation, it’s time to take action.
• Musty Odor: A faint, musty smell comes from the watch. It can mean trapped moisture and possible mould growth.
To take care of your new watch, we recommend following these steps. However, we cannot guarantee waterproofing for older devices due to their age.
Also, please note that your device may lose its waterproof capabilities after repair. If your device has already undergone repairs, these suggestions may not apply to you, and it's best to avoid exposing your device to water.
1. Activate Water Lock
Swipe up for Control Center. Find the water droplet icon and tap it. This activates the Water Lock, shown by a droplet icon on the screen.
Let's take a look at what Apple says about Apple Lock.
2. Power off and Dry the watch
After you finish using the Water Lock feature, remember to turn off your Apple Watch. Next, use a soft cloth to wipe the outside of the watch. Be sure to clean the screen, speaker port, buttons, and even the small corners to remove any water or dirt. And don't forget to give your watch band some attention during cleaning. Let your watch air dry. Avoid using hair dryers or other heat sources that could cause damage.
3. Power on and access for damage
After you make sure your Apple Watch is dry, turn it back on. Test the touchscreen, Digital Crown, audio, and heart rate sensor. Any odd behaviour could signal hardware damage. If so, head to an Apple or authorized service centre for repairs.
The Apple warranty usually doesn't cover water damage to your Apple Watch. It's designed to resist water. But, be careful around water. If the screen gets damaged and needs fixing, your watch might lose its water resistance. If you have not repaired your device before, you can use it, but we cannot guarantee the same for older devices. It's best to be cautious while using them. We don't recommend using a repaired watch in water. Some companies might say it's okay after a repair, but we don’t. It could be risky and costly, possibly as much as buying a new watch. So, we don't suggest investing in water-damaged watches for our customers.
